North Myrtle Beach Real Estate
North Myrtle Beach was once a quiet, residential beach that many generations of families visited year after year. Most don’t know the difference between Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach with the traffic and luxury high-rise condos. But there are those who always preferred North Myrtle and still do. North Myrtle Beach has its own atmosphere, to some a classier atmosphere, and now has every attraction that Myrtle Beach itself has, plus a few more!
Many of the golf courses are on the north end, and so are more convenient to this area…and the suburb of Little River even has casino boats!
North Myrtle Beach has its fair share of fancy new high-rise condos on the beach, but not as many of the larger resorts. For those who love the big resorts, there is Baywatch Resort and Prince Resort at the Cherry Grove Pier. With a few exceptions, most of the other vacation condos are smaller and more private. The remaining beach houses may be a bit smaller and less expensive, although there are many new private neighborhoods of townhomes and villas within a few blocks of the beach on the channels.
Golf carts are more often seen used to visit the drug store or a favorite restaurant, Main Street in the Ocean Drive section still caters to the “shag” dancers and their favorite watering holes such as Fat Harolds and Ducks, both locals favorites
On the southern end of North Myrtle you find the huge gated property of Ocean Creek Resort, as fine of a self-contained vacation complex as any of the best. A favorite to the area is the luxurious North Beach Plantation where you can still buy a condominium or beach home and personalize it. The Intracoastal Waterway runs parallel and closer to Highway 17 in North Myrtle Beach, and there are several resorts with marinas and boat slips there and in Little River. Harbourgate Resort and the complexes at Coquina Harbour in Little River are perfect for the avid boater lifestyle.
If you looking for a home that’s in a little less hectic area but still full of the best restaurants and entertainment, consider looking in North Myrtle Beach. Contact one of our agents to begin your North Myrtle Beach home search today.
